Build

The Frame

The first part of the wooden frame is standing. It comprises four two-by-two (i.e. 2″x2″) beams inter-connected by five one-by-two beams. This frame will bear one of the main panels onto which the rails will be screwed. This panel has a strength of 16 millimetres (a bit thin but because of the fifth one-by-two beam it will be sufficient – I hope…). platte The second frame will be erected tomorrow. The two frames will then be positioned left and right from a 35cm strong beam holding up the roof of the garage. The connection between the two panels will be build from two one-by-two beams carrying – again – a 16mm strong panel (blue in the picture).

The first building

Parallel to working on the frame, I bought my first building from Faller. A train station – Faller calls it Talheim (Valley Home) — will become the main station (Jamballa) on my model. It is a strange feeling to work with plastic cement again – after well over 20 years. Like John Belushi said in Blues Brothers: it’s “strong stuff” and even glues fingers together. And RTFM (Read the Fucking Manual) also applies to building model buildings: I forgot to put a window frame in place before butting up the windows. Ooops. Let’s hope I won’t do it again.
